Shelfline Capital · Invoice Factoring

Invoice factoring for wholesale and distribution — $25,000 to $5,000,000

If you ship to retailers, distributors or 3PL customers on terms, factoring usually beats an advance — because we underwrite the creditworthiness of the company that owes the invoice, not yours.

What retail and e-commerce operators use it for

  • Shipping to a big-box retailer on net-60 or net-90
  • Covering the production run for the next PO while the last one is unpaid
  • Growing faster than retained earnings allow
  • Taking on a large customer whose terms you could not otherwise carry
  • Bridging a receivables gap without adding a balance-sheet obligation

Worked example

A distributor ships $600,000 a month to regional grocery chains on net-60. A factoring facility advances 90% on each invoice the day it is issued, so the cash cycle compresses from 60 days to same-day. The cost is a discount on each invoice for the days it is actually outstanding — which, on a customer that pays in 45 days, is materially cheaper than an 18-month advance.

Illustrative only. Your actual amount, cost and term are set by underwriting after we review your statements. Nothing here is an offer of credit.

Invoice Factoring — questions

Whose credit is underwritten?

Your customer's. This is why factoring carries no minimum FICO and a much shorter time-in-business requirement than any other product on this site.

Will my customers know?

Only on a notification facility. Non-notification arrangements are available and are common for brands who do not want the relationship disturbed.

What is the difference between recourse and non-recourse?

On recourse, you buy the invoice back if your customer does not pay. On non-recourse, we carry the credit risk on an approved customer — it costs more for that reason.

Is there a monthly minimum?

No monthly minimum and no long-term contract on our standard facility.

Can I factor some invoices and not others?

Yes. Spot and selective factoring are both available, though a whole-ledger facility prices better.
