What retail and e-commerce operators use it for
- Building out a second retail location
- Acquiring a competitor or a complementary brand
- A warehouse move or a 3PL transition
- Refinancing short-term advances into one longer, cheaper payment
- A one-time capital project with a multi-year payback
Worked example
A retailer with two locations and $2.4M in annual revenue borrows $400,000 over 48 months to build out a third site. The payment is fixed, so it can be modelled into the pro forma for the new location from day one, and there is no penalty for paying it down early once the site matures.

We publish these numbers because they are the question. If you do not clear a line above, you will not waste a day finding out.
Term Loans — questions
Why is the credit bar higher than working capital?
Because a term loan prices off a multi-year view rather than a four-month deposit history. Conventional term products are placed with our bank partners, which carry their own credit requirements.
Can I refinance existing advances into a term loan?
Often, yes — it is one of the most common reasons operators move to a term product. Your underwriter will model whether the total cost actually falls.
How long does it take?
3 to 10 business days, against 24 hours for working capital. The trade is speed for cost.
Is a term loan cheaper than working capital?
Usually, on an annualised basis. It is also slower, requires more documentation and carries a full personal guarantee.
What does the debt schedule need to show?
Every outstanding obligation, the balance, the payment, the frequency and the holder. Leaving one off is the fastest way to lose a file in final underwriting.
